LUXEMBURG, THE FIRST COUNTRY IN THE WORLD TO MAKE PUBLIC TRANSPORT FREE
Whether this is government taking seriously the
adequate care of its citizens or it’s technologically induced good
tiding, Luxembourg is set to be the first country in the world to make
its public
transportation free.
This fit comes out of oblivion through the help of just re-elected prime minister and his coalition government which agreed to lift all fares on train, buses and trams come next summer.
The re-elected prime minister whose Democratic Party
will form a coalition government with the left wing Socialist Workers’ party and
the Greens, had promised to make public transportation tickets and fares free
all across the country during the recent election campaign.
This fit comes out of oblivion through the help of just re-elected prime minister and his coalition government which agreed to lift all fares on train, buses and trams come next summer.
The authority says the initiative would alleviate the traffic problems the commuters always faced with and also solve one of the world’s worst traffic gridlock.
All its neighbouring countries like Germany,
Belgium and France has about 400,000 commuters that travel in to work in Luxembourg.
Again, all everyone in the country who
is under 20 years and, or an high school student is
offered free ride on a bus, train
or trams especially when commuting from
home to school. Luxembourg currently has the highest number of cars for its
population in the European Union.
