ANOTHER $300 MILLION IN ABACHA LOOT TO BE TRANSFERRED TO NIGERIA BY SWITZERLAND GOVERNMENT

Just  yesterday, Nigeria Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama announced that the government of  Switzerland has  agreed to further  transfer another  sum of  money totaling $300 million in recovered loot from the  family of late military president, Sanni  Abacha. According to  a  source, the fund is  part of  the $5 billion the Abacha’s stole  from Nigeria  and  stashed away in different banks when  he  was the  president .
You would recall that prior to yesterday’s declaration by the minister; $300 million was earlier on released to Nigeria during former President era. But the fund  was diverted by the  then Finance Minister, Ngozi Okonjo Iweala to the office  of the former National Security Adviser (NSA) Colonel Sambo Dasuki a  few week before election.Sahara reporters  around that  period pointed  to the  fact  that the  fund  was spent  on last minute political campaign for Former president Jonathan in  his  bid to run for  second term in office.

Since December last year, the scandal has taken on the name of “Dasukigate” and has led to the indictment of several high profile figures including the spokesman for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Olisa Metuh, Olu Falae, Bode  George,Tony Aneinh and media mogul Raymond Dokpesi among  many others.
